Ullrich Aluminium take on Movember fundraising challenge

Staff from Ullrich Aluminium Australia are getting behind Movember with a goal of fundraising $10,000 over the month.

The money raised from the campaign will go directly to mental health and suicide prevention, as well as prostate and testicular cancer research.

The aim for Movember is to reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25% by 2030.

From humble beginnings in 2003 Movember now funds over 1250 projects around the world with 99 of these projects in Australia.

It is the first time Ullrich Aluminium has participated in Movember, with the company using Movember to promote good physical and mental health across its branch network during the month.

Ullrich Marketing and Communications Manager Gordon Watson said. “Being a leading aluminium supplier in Australia, we traditionally have a large number of male staff and customers. It is important that we promote positive ways our Mo Bros and Mo Sistas can improve their physical and mental health. Better still, empower staff to help those around them – be it at work, at home, or out in their community.”

Record pickleball attempt to help raise funds

The Ullrich Aluminium staff team so far is made up of five staff. This includes a staff member from Carole Park near Brisbane, Springvale in Melbourne, and Garbutt in Townsville and two staff members from the Gold Coast.

The two Gold Coast staff members are taking a novel approach to fundraise.

Pat Pannunzio from the Gold Coast is aiming to clock up 60km over the month by walking and jogging. While Gordon Watson is aiming to set an Australian Pickleball record by playing pickleball from sun-up to sun-down on 27 November. That’s 13 Hours and 44 Minutes of playing Pickleball!

Pat says, “It is funny. I wanted to get behind Movember, but my wife is not a fan of me having a mo. So, when I learned I could do the ‘Move’ option for Movember, it was a great excuse to focus my exercise for a great cause.”

“Before this campaign, I had no idea more than 6 men a day in Australia take their own life. That is way higher than the national road toll. So, if we can help prevent men dying prematurely, it provides better outcomes for our whole community,” Pat adds.

Sausages and social media

Ullrich branches around the nation will also be doing a number of sausage sizzle events. These events are where customers, staff, family, and friends, can come along enjoy a snag, and meet their local Ullrich team. They can also take a look at the huge range of aluminium products they supply.

It isn’t too late to join the Ullrich Aluminium Staff Team. You can join the team or make a donation towards their Movember fundraising efforts by clicking here.
