Step up with an Ullrich Aluminium Step Ladder

If there is one piece of equipment that all tradies and nearly every home needs, it’s a quality Ullrich Aluminium step ladder.

For a tradie is an absolute necessity, not a day goes by that they would not use their trusty step ladder and at home, it is the item you usually realise you need when it’s too late.

Whether it is cleaning the gutters or washing the filters in air conditioners, inside or out, a step ladder is a trusted friend.

Did you know?

Ullrich Aluminium has been manufacturing ladders for over 60 years. The brand is iconic across New Zealand and Australia and created the strong foundation on which to build the company. So much so, Ullrich Aluminium exports to over 40 countries and has won major export awards and now has a network of over 50 locations and over 700 staff around Australia and New Zealand.

Aluminium step ladders built to New Zealand and Australian Standards

Ullrich Aluminium pioneered the production of ladders in New Zealand and Australia and are built to Standard AS1892.1.2018.

The Ullrich Aluminium range of step ladders can be organised into three categories for use, these include:

  • Domestic: 100kg – 120kg load rating
  • Industrial: 120kg – 140kg load rating
  • Professional Industrial: 140kg+ load rating

Importantly Ullrich Aluminium also offers a range of step ladders suitable for use by electricians made from fibreglass. All our ladders and step ladders are individually stamped with important safety and proper use information.

Why use a step ladder?

Unless you are blessed with superhuman height, a step ladder is a tool that you could use on an almost daily basis. Whether at home or at work a step ladder will fast become your favourite tool in your arsenal. If there is a job that requires you to reach something that is taller than you are, an aluminium step ladder will save the day:

  • Cleaning Gutters or machinery
  • Work around the factory
  • Manually restocking shelves
  • Painting
  • Tree pruning
  • Air conditioner cleaning
  • Hiding things from the kids in your manhole in the roof
  • Window Cleaning
  • Finding new and wonderful places to hide Buddy the Elf so you can post pictures on Facebook

The list is truly endless about how many uses there are for an aluminium step ladder and will be a lifelong companion.

Safety first when using a step ladder

At Ullrich Aluminium a rigorous, fully traceable quality control system is in place during the manufacturing process to maintain the certified standard for which we are famous.

Buying an Ullrich Aluminium step ladder ensures your product is made in New Zealand and Australia to high standards and is not a cheap inferior imported product.

Like any tool you use around the home make sure you use it and maintain it as it should be.

Make sure of the following when using a step ladder to help prevent serious injury:

  • Observe ALL the manufacturer’s warnings and instructions, including the load rating. Remember your ladder weight is your weight plus the tools and equipment you are carrying
  • Always handle the step ladder with care and be aware of other people and fixtures in your working area, such as overhead lighting, powerlines, animals, doorways etc
  • If using the step ladder outdoors, check the weather forecast for any conditions that may make being up an aluminium step ladder risky
  • Speaking of risk, remove any potential risks from your work area
  • Only use a step ladder for what it is intended – you do not want to end up on a blooper reel on YouTube
  • Avoid overextending on ladders, and always maintain three points of contact with the ladder. Importantly choose the right ladder for the job. Safety first!
  • Ensure the ladder is clean to help avoid rung slips
  • Always check the ladder has not been damaged in anyway, for example, a mate may have used your ladder before you and forgot to let you know he ran over it with his ute, making it too dangerous to use…
  • Put signage up around your work area letting people know you are working at heights – especially if a doorway is present.
  • Do not leave erect ladders unattended – children could think they are play equipment and injure themselves
  • Always wear slip resistant enclosed footwear
  • No hangover working! If you are impaired from the night before or recent consumption of alcohol or other drugs do not use a ladder for any purpose. Put the task off until your head is back to normal!
  • Always wear suitable and comfortable safety workwear
